Pursuant to the instruction of the Ukrainian State Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and in accordance with the UNESCO recommendations on the preparation by the state of proposals for the inclusion of sites in the Tentative List, which states "States Parties are encouraged to prepare their Tentative Lists with the participation of a wide range of stakeholders, including site managers, local and regional authorities and other interested partners", Iryna Prokopenko, Director of the Ukrainian State Institute of Cultural Heritage, initiated a working meeting on the nomination of the Chornobyl zone to the Tentative List. The meeting was attended by Maksym Shevchuk, Deputy Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management; Yuriy Voronetsky, Specialist of the Constitutional Court of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management; Alyona Varukha, Junior Researcher of the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve; and Tetiana Slobodianiuk, Chief Specialist of the Department for UNESCO Cooperation of the ICIP of Ukraine.
