"When it seems that the whole world is against you, remember that an airplane takes off against the wind!" said Henry Ford, so all the restrictions of 2020 complicated but did not stop the fruitful work of UDICS researchers and designers. The Institute has always achieved high-quality results in implementing the state policy in the field of cultural heritage protection, and last year was no exception. The Institute developed "Methodological recommendations for determining the criteria of monuments for inclusion of cultural heritage objects in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine", fulfilled the instructions of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy on the introduction of electronic registration of cultural heritage objects and ensuring the formation of the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. An assessment of the historical and cultural potential of the sites included in the List of Historical Settlements of Ukraine was conducted, and historical and architectural reference plans for Kakhovka, Kropyvnytskyi, Lysychansk were developed, and historical and architectural reference plans for Vinnytsia and Lutsk were finalized. Not only were assessments of the impact of the proposed urban planning transformations on the outstanding universal value of the UNESCO World Heritage Site prepared, but also protection zones were developed for many monuments of the capital of Ukraine. During 2020, UDIKS researchers conducted historical and archival research of cultural heritage monuments, photographed them, identified historical, artistic, scientific and artistic values, established objects of protection, determined the peculiarities of the use of cultural heritage monuments, types and timing of restoration, conservation, and repair work. The result of such comprehensive research of cultural heritage monuments was the development of accounting and monument protection documentation. Many online meetings and roundtables were held on the issues of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Ukraine In 2021, UDICS sets itself a number of ambitious tasks that are expected to improve monument protection activities.
